Praying during COP30
Our Voices Matter
Our Voices Matter
The thirtieth Conference of Parties (COP30), which addresses climate change, is being hosted by Brazil, during 10-21 November 2025, and is taking place in Belém, Pará. This resource was produced for use during COP fortnight, but is relevant at any other time of the year.
Welcome to our COP30 prayer resource, which is a little different from previous years. In the past we have based our reflections around some of the issues that are discussed each year at the Climate COP, using the Bible as a touchstone. This year we have turned to the Bible to explore a single theme: Our Voices Matter.
We settled on this theme because we believe that now, more than ever, those of us who are concerned about our deteriorating climate and its impact on the poorest people in the world, must start (or continue) to raise our voices, and must speak for those that have no voice. This is not a case of words instead of actions, it's actions through words.
There are ten voice-themed reflections which consider God's voice, the way he speaks to us and how he calls us to speak. Each day we have provided a reading from the Bible, a reflection on the theme, and a response. We have also provided a section on activities at the COP that day followed by a prayer. We finish each day with a small individual action that we could all make in response to our calling to care for God's creation.
We break from the Our Voice Matters theme over the weekend with a couple of reflections on creation as part of God's bigger picture.
This home page provides a dashboard for navigating to each day’s reflection. You can return to it from any other page by clicking on Praying during COP30 at the top of the page (or if you're on a phone you might just see the logo that we have created).
Where we have used the work of other people we have tried to attribute appropriately, and any mistakes are ours. Note that links to external websites will open in a new tab.
