COP29 -11-22 November 2024

who are we?
We are four very ordinary, concerned Christians who want to pray in an informed way about global climate issues and the impact these have on individuals unseen to us: unseen because they live far away, and unseen because they may not yet have been born.
Sue McLeod and Alison Marshall are two members of a prayer cell at St Mungo's Church, Balerno. They meet with four others via Zoom on a Monday morning to pray about issues that focus on Creation Care. They are both retired, Sue after more than 30 years working in environmental compliance and Alison after 30 years in the nursing profession.
Ricci and Karen Downard are members of Currie Community Church and Holy Trinity in Wester Hailes. They volunteer with Tearfund, promote fair trade, and campaign for an end to global poverty with ResultsUK.
This website is not endorsed by any of the churches mentioned, and whilst we are not experts in everything that has been posted, we hope that our homework will enable you to pray wisely.
If you'd like to contact us we'd love to hear from you.
why this website?
For the last two COPs we have put together a prayer resource that has focussed on the daily COP themes. This year we're doing things a little differently and instead of being led by the COP agenda, we are using the Bible as our springboard to explore some common creation care themes. However, the intention is the same. We want to encourage daily focus during the COP fortnight to make sure these important discussions are underpinned with prayer.
...to the faithful St Mungo's Monday prayer cell warriors who have sense checked and proof read the pages: Lorna, Sue, Lynne and Wendy. And to Sue's dad, Edward, for a being a wise sounding board!
